Abstract:Using computer-aided chemistry techniques, this seminar will illustrate the prediction, analysis and display of biological, chemical and physical protein properties, such as hydrophobicity, hydrophillicity, antigenicity, ligand binding, crystal packing, and more. Comparison of protein structures through automated alignment and superposition will also be discussed as well as receptor site identification and fast docking of ligands into binding sites.
This seminar demonstrates the value and expanding scope of computer-aided chemistry in the laboratory. Chemists use CAChe(r), an easy-to-use computer-aided chemistry package for protein and medicinal chemists that runs on a PC, to improve their success rate in the laboratory and speed research by prescreening candidates and testing their ideas before investing valuable laboratory time.
